Liberty Horse UK online shows are a fantastic opportunity to showcase your horse’s skills and strengthen your bond—all from the comfort of your own arena or field. Whether you're a seasoned liberty enthusiast or just starting, these shows are designed to inspire creativity and celebrate the joy of training. Here's your step-by-step guide to getting involved:
Decide which class suits your horse’s skill level and your training goals. Classes are typically categorised to cater to beginners onwards, so everyone has a chance to shine. You can even start off ‘on the line’ (on the lead rope) to develop the cues and communication before ditching the rope!
If you’re unsure which class to enter, the Liberty Horse UK community is always on hand to help guide you.
The Liberty Horse UK online shows are organised into six sections (A-F), each focusing on different skill levels and types of liberty work:
- Section A: "On the Line" with walk and trot work.
- Section B: Liberty at the shoulder (walk only).
- Section C: Liberty at the shoulder, walk and trot.
- Section D: Liberty work at walk and trot.
- Section E: Ridden bridleless.
- Section F: Walk, trot, and canter at liberty.
We also run freestyles, themed classes and ‘equine hoofers’ (based on Canine Hoopers!) The schedule for the month will appear on the website and will also appear as a pinned post on Facebook. Keep an eye on the Liberty Horse UK website or social media pages for updates on upcoming shows, rules, and deadlines.
There are written and video instructions for most of the patterns on the website. You may find it useful to walk the pattern on foot first. Once you grab your horse, practice small chunks of the pattern over a few days before trying to put it all together.
Recording your routine is a crucial part of competing online. Follow these steps for a great submission:
Set the scene: Choose a safe, quiet space with good lighting.
Stick to the rules: Make sure your video meets the time limit and any other requirements outlined in the show guidelines.
Use a steady camera: A tripod or a helper can ensure your footage is clear and professional.
Check out this blog A Guide to Filming Your Training and Submitting Your Entries for more info.
Upload your video via the submission form on the Liberty Horse UK website before the deadline. Double-check your video for compliance with the rules and ensure any required information is included.
If you are a member you will find the entry form on the members portal under ‘online shows’.
Once submissions are closed, grab a cup of tea and watch the online showcase! I think I have figured out how to showcase the entries from November onwards… watch this space eeeek!
Whether you win a rosette or simply gain confidence, every entry is a step forward in your liberty journey. Share your experience on social media and connect with fellow participants—building a community is one of the best parts of these events!
Flexibility: Train and compete on your own schedule.
Inclusivity: Open to horses of all breeds, ages, and training levels.
Supportive Environment: The Liberty Horse UK community is encouraging and focused on celebrating progress.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your camera, get creative, and join the fun! Liberty Horse UK online shows are your chance to shine while strengthening your partnership with your horse.
Let’s see you and your horse in action! 🌟
